Stopped in to soak up the French atmosphere and try some craft cocktails. Let me tell you, I’m bummed I didn’t get to try any food – the menu looked pretty darn delicious. Tableau Bar Bistro, in the Loden Hotel, is one of Vancouver’s finest French gems.
The atmosphere was light and simple. Unpretentious yet smart. The perfect Vancouver brasserie.
A little on the slow side, despite the empty restaurant, but our French server was very pleasant.
I’m quite sad we were so rushed, because I was only able to try one cocktail; the 1181 ($11) – gin, elderflower syrup, lemonade, sparkling wine, and garnished with a curl of lemon. I enjoyed it; sweet but refreshing. My coworker decided on a Cochinchina ($6), from their non-alcoholic section. It was a mix of coconut water, rose water syrup, and lime juice.
I will definitely be popping in again to try some of their food and more cocktails (mmmmmm)
For Next Time:
Oysters ($3-$4), French Onion Soup ($12), or Steak Frites ($24). With the ‘Autumn On My Mind’ cocktail ($11); vodka, apple / pear puree, vermouth, vanilla + maple shrub, ginger beer. nomnomnom
